Session Two

A new friend.
Breakfast with the Longfurrows.
The trail through the Chetwood.
The babbling brook.
I smell wet dog.
A growl in the undergrowth.

Mondruth and his wolf pack.
Peck draws first blood.
Into the fray.
Four dead wolves.
Gum and Anduin finish Mondruth.
Peck's savaged leg.

Sammael tends to Peck's wounds and assists him on the trail back.
Wolves' heads and an unconscious Mondruth taken to the farm.
Mondruth, mortally wounded, dies without regaining consciousness.
Overnight rest.

North to Bree.
A heroes' welcome.
Silver coins and town archives.

The Watcher of Amon Sûl.
Of long-dead guardians and long-lost palantíri.
A week to recover and Peck is ready to travel.
Prepare for departure on the east road.
Weathertop awaits.

SESSION THREE

Grey skies and rain dampen spirits.
A silver penny each to use Will’s ford across Will’s stream – preposterous!
A week to Weathertop.
I spy crebain.
The search for the hidden tomb of the Last Watcher.

Peck peeks into the seeing-stone.
A visage and a voice.
Let’s go to Isengard. Or maybe not.
A dwarf’s shield in a man’s grave.
The Star of the West.
Time to leave. Hey, who turned out the light?

To Tharbad to find the Needle?
To Orthanc to visit Saruman?
Neither. East to Rivendell instead. Elrond is bound to be pleased to see us.

‘Honour shield of Baraz, master prospector, son of Badram.
Awarded for services to his people.
Lost beneath the Needle.
May his memory point the way for those that seek.
May he never fade from our hearts.’’

SESSION FOUR

Same road. Nicer weather.
Sunset. The warg rider on the ridge.
The rider keeps pace. Sammael shouts out. The rider slinks away.
The sun is dipping. An uneasy camp.
An arrow in the dark.
A restless night and amateur surgery.

Back on the road. The promise of an old abandoned tree.
A what?
Dusk. The rider is back and he’s brought his friends too.
The charge of the warg brigade.
Goblin war cries. Bows and hammers.
A fierce warg clashes head-on against Gum’s shield;
-one of less sturdy limbs would have buckled for certain.
Gum keeps the score.
The walking wounded.

The Trollshaws, the petrified trolls and the tree.
The high pass and the ford of Bruinen.
Glorfindel and Rivendell.
An audience in the house of Elrond.
Peck hands over the stone. Elrond sends it to Saruman.

Anduin gifts Gil-númen to Elrond.
Elrond counsels that such blades were forged for great adventure.
The dundedain in the woods.
Rest. Recuperation. Sanctuary.
So, about this Needle. Let’s ask Elrond.

...Forgot the arrival roll again. Journeys end with arrival rolls. Must remember!
...Should have mentioned - An audience with Elrond would've been the perfect occasion for Gumgred to braid his beard and thread it with his inherited true-silver beardweights.

SESSION FIVE

A boat trip down the Bruinen.
Peck gets his rod out. Looks like salmon for tea.
The wight in the mist.
Anduin doesn’t look too good.
The fens, stormy weather and the merging of rivers.
Let’s walk from here.

The herb house.
Gum: What’s your name? Lorelyn: It’s Lorelyn
Lorelyn heals Anduin, though he’ll be scarred until the end of days.
Gum: What’s your name again? Lorelyn: It’s Lorelyn
An evening’s feast beneath the stars.
Breakfast. Lorelyn warns the company that Tharbad is a nest of orcs.
Gum: What’s your name? Lorelyn: It’s Lorelyn.
Gum: Thanks Lauren.
The company departs for Tharbad.

Tharbad. Looks almost as abandoned as an old tree.
A magnificent bridge – could perhaps do with a bit of restoration work.
How shall we access the city?
Massacre at the gatehouse.

Level up. Third level.
