Hi all, I did a quick search and couldn't see if this topic as been made before;

Following a very confusing but extremely enjoyable intro into MTG, I felt that this was something I could casually play and thus went searching online for some cards. I bought something called a black lotu... :P

Jokes aside, would people reccommend I buy boosters or intro packs to begin?
Many thanks,
Conner

Hi Conner,

I've only recently got into Magic myself, I started by buying intro packs - seemed like a good idea at the time, but actually I've hardly used any of the cards. Personally therefore, I wouldn't recommend them. Instead I constructed a deck by coming up with an interesting theme and then collecting cards to fulfil that concept.

Try googling for themes of magic decks for some inspiration.

I purchase a lot of singles from on-line sites, mostly from bigorbitcards. I've also used chaoscards and magicmadhouse. I recommend them all. Visit their sites and browse through the cards for more inspiration and you'll get a clear idea for the cost of putting a deck together. You can assemble a decent deck of cards for less than £20.

Hello, would also recommend going to a pre release event when the next mtg set comes out - I think the next one is in January next year. Kaladesh was a week ago which was fun.

Prerelease are good and depending on where you go , they will take time to explain the new rules and it's normally ran in a friendly atmosphere , and not bad value for money as you keep the cards at the end of the day

Thanks for the feedback guys,
I've just downloaded MTG duals on Xbone to get my head around the rules better, -: well as that I've bought a very cheap prebuilt deck so I should be able to join in with any charity-duels! Once I'm a bit more switched on, I'll be looking at making a collection worthy of getting my backside handed to me!

Hi all,
Are there any rules to MTG that you guys enforce on Thursday nights? Eg. Restriction on amount of cards in deck/banned cards? I
I'm still in the process of trying to find some zombie tokens in bulk that won't break the bank, but I keep getting beaten to the punch. Do you guys mind if I were to use dice/random slips of paper to represent any tokens?
See you tomorrow!
Conner
