Now for the better bit

It might be nice if we remember something about Gary at the club.

One of mine was Gary's character in Galleon of Galleons. Jack, a simple name but by the end of two weeks he was renamed by the players to Bastard Jack. Why you ask?

The captain (Sarge) had told them to stop checking every bit of debris as it was slowing them down. Jack was doing the breakfast watch, whereby he sees debris floating on the water. There a body of a boy slumped over some wood, a possible survivor and maybe a clue.

Jack with the Captains comments in mind draws his pistol and shoots at the body. The noise wakes everyone and they all come running. Meanwhile Jack has reloaded his pistol and fired again this time winging the boy who yells out in pain. Jack starts to reload again.

"What ye think yer playin' at you scurvy nave"

"You said to stop investigating debris"

"Ar' I did that, but that not be debris, that be a boy, so you still got some s'plainin' to do"

"Well he may have been dead, so if I shoot him an' he don't flinch then his dead"

"But if yer shoot him, and kill him, what then?"

"Well he be dead, an we carry on"

"So you plan Jack is to ensure he be dead"

"Yeah"

"Your a Bastard Jack"

And that's how he got his name.

Gaz: "Right, I'm going to fly up there and hit it with my staff."
GM: "err you cant fly"
Gaz: "I can... (rustle of papers)"
GM: "Ok... so you can fly..."

an hour later.

Tony: "Ok Crusader, fly up there and get the hostage!"
Gaz: "Fly? I cant fly!"
Tony: "you did it just a few minutes ago!"
Gaz: "No I didn't..."
All: "you did Gaz!"
GM: "No. he didn't...."

pause....
longer pause.... (several strange looks)
more pause

10 minutes later...

Tony: "quick Gaz hit it with your staff!"
Gaz: "Don't use a staff."
Tony: "WHAT!!!!!"
DM: "nope - no staffs used here!"

Pause
More Pause
Realisation sets in.... Its another Gaz classic the worlds first schizophrenic superhero... Crusader Hank is born....
Red Wine should always be opened and allowed to breathe....

if it doesn't apply mouth to bottle resuscitation.

I was able to book time off work until 13:00, I can make the funeral but not the wake.

I fondly recollect Gary's dwarven rogue/alchemist Rast in Rise of the Runelords. How he turned a single line of flavour text in the first book (some harpy wings hanging on the wall of a goblin chief's trophy room) into a character defining moment. Also, the lengths he would go to extract anything remotely venomous from the monsters he fought, regardless of how gross/unsanitary the extraction process might be. Siphoning ghoul blood from their atrophied veins to fill bottles of paralyzing agent with no expiration date. Rast will be missed.

Also, the time that Gary's character (Thorn) in Andy's Carrion Crown game sewed the irritating halfling porter inside the body of a giant tarantula for safe keeping. :D

I will be there for the funeral and the wake.

I will miss Gary immensely. His character Thorn in my Carrion Crown campaign was amazing. He polymorphed himself into a giant octopus to fight a giant octopus and more comically a violet fungus. Oh, and there was the 'Shit down the chimney' incident in 'Broken Moon'. Thanks Gary for all the Thorntons chocolates, all the lifts, and all the good times.

RIP My friend.

There's an appeal.on the form but want to check if they have anything.they can give me as well.

mikeawmids - Thu 2 May - 18:18

I have sent a message to the Coronation Club FB profile asking what the appeal process is, just in case there is no-one on site tonight who can answer that question.

Sarge - Thu 2 May - 11:17

That was the last week of the rotation. Definitely challenge if you are sure you signed in

rhodsey - Wed 1 May - 13:36

I've just had a fine for the car park at club in post for 18th April. Pretty sure I signed in but could have missed it however just checking did anyone else get one for same night? before I challenge

Kaltek - Thu 11 Apr - 19:14

Just outside the car park now, there are still a few people from the wake at the moment

Garuda - Thu 11 Apr - 17:39

Should have read the posts below better. Looks like I'll be giving it a miss this week.

Garuda - Thu 11 Apr - 17:36

Did club indicate wake will go on all evening? Not a fan of gaming in the bar.

Temrane - Thu 11 Apr - 17:25
