I can see a test post from Sant on the BCRPS facebook page. No idea if this is visible to others on the timeline or whether it needs approval from a mod first.

Yeh that was me.. just testing it, delete it. It needs to be set up as a group that authorised people can join. In my opinion .

Just a heads up, we have had six new people come to the club so far this rotation (including Timbo), and one returning member. That's a lot of new faces and a lot of growth for the club, assuming folk stick around. If the Fistful of One Shots was not an option, would we have been able to accommodate these new players? Might be worth thinking on for future rotations, as the last thing we want to do is turn folk away or make them spectate. :s

Some suggestions;
1: add players to existing games, when GM's create their recruitment threads, they should allow room for new players to join when they sign up to the club.
2: run pick up games (like the Fistful) to give new members a gateway into the hobby and also allow first time GMs to gain experience/confidence behind the screen.
3: juggle tables mid-rotation, perhaps drawing a battle hardened GM from an existing game to helm a new table.

Maybe we could use club funds to buy a D&D starter box, so that we are prepared for that eventuality? Ooh, we could also donate our old dice into a common pool so that new members can use them. I am gonna bring a jar on Thursday!

OK here we go again...

1. In the future, I am planning to aim when recruiting - 4 to join on line in advance, no or limited automatic places for previous players(depending on circumstances), 2 extra places reserved for on the first night, triage being, first - newbies, second - returning club members, third - gameless club members.
2. The Fistful has been successful in my opinion. It would be useful to have a pick-up game every rotation, Its pretty daunting for a newbie GM to face doing an 8 week adventure, even if it's "off the shelf", rather than homebrew. Just running a one-shot is a nice introduction to GM-ing, Also, other formats are possible, organised play games, like Pathfinder Society, or D&D Adventurers Guild are useful things to consider, as are other types of "Round Robin" games.
3. Maybe, split some rotations into 2 4 week games, maybe with 2 GM's switching groups half way through, so that's 4 4 week games instead 2 8 week games.

I don't know how we arrange for storage of BCRPS properties at the Coronation club, or how it might be administered. The club ought to have enough money to buy a D&D starter set, oh, and yeah we could ask members to donate dice, unwanted games etc. to the club, the problem is how we store this material, and how its use is controlled. I can see there being potential for problems with this issue. I hope this helps, but anyway, thanks for trying to make a difference.

I am inclined to agree! Important thing now is to make sure the new players understand how the club operates and create an account on the website, so they can sign up for future games like everyone else. First time they turn up, it's on us to get them into a game, in subsequent rotations, it's on them.

This would be useful, but I don't see it happening every rotation.

I was just going to keep the jar in my boot and bring it in every week. Open to suggestions! We're responsible adults, I'm sure we can keep track of one starter box. :D

Some sensible suggestions here, except for 4 week rotations

We have asked before if there was any storage, and was told there wasn't. It may be worth asking again as it has been some years now, but I'd say they response would be similar

Not sure why Andrek believes we have plenty of spare cash in the kitty, when it was a year before collecting any subs, a fair number of members don't have to pay, and the hosting and domain renewals pending...

I am happy to donate my copy of the 5th Ed Starter set to a club library, will bring tonight. Thanks Mike for being the custodian

There is a new 5th ed starter set based on Strangers Things, if the members agree I could look into purchasing a copy for the library
