mikeawmids Offline Platinum Member Sadly, life can't be all gimps and mayonnaise. Posts: 1260	I struggle with Branderson. I forced myself to finish book 1 of the Stormlight Archive, but I can't bring myself to start the second (and that's coming from a guy who has read the Malazan Book of the Fallen in its entirety). the only thing I can recall from it is one character had a thing about jam.

Way of kings is definitely the wrong book to start reading his stuff (he'll tell you that as well) as it's kinda like the epic that ties all his other books together and assumes you've read some of his tuff, not to pickup tidbits but so you already know his writing style and trust him as it purposefully doesn't work for first time readers.

Better to start with the Mistborn trilogy (part one, there is also a part two that is basically magisteampunk style in the same worlds future) or one of his standalones. Tress of the Emerald Sea is a nice story and standalone.
