Diary Extract:

Home. Never thought the concept of being in one place safe would be so nice. But I cant help viewing my home with different eyes. I cant deny now that the stutter is an impediment. Even Uncle Cedley noticed... I'd hoped that being home and in familiar areas I would feel more settled but frankly the visit to the Penhew Foundation left more questions than it answered.

Penhew, Dr chap there is a one way street. He's definitely hiding something about Elias. There is something man isn't telling us. There are a preponderance of African artifacts here. though this time Egyptian, Carney is in his element. did note one thing. The cult of the bloody tongue don't seem to link to here, but another cult with similar MO (at least for murder) do appear to be operating, based on Egyptian Mythos, cult of the black something.. Carney will know.

A quick search of local news revealed a cult style killings Derwent Valley Derbyshire. Julia Osgood, and Oliver perkins connections, Serpent in Soho and Slaughter in Soho news items linked to Mickey Mahoney of The Scoop, a rag really but seemingly the only paper linking things... James Barrington is the Detective dealing maybe he has news on the 20+ slayings? Contacted him and asked some fairly blunt questions, he's confirming with New York detective... we'll wait and see.

The only other issue is these Egyptian chaps creeping around. I'm feeling uneasy. the Black Cult is Egyptian isn't it? they were seen going into the Penhew foundation, so maybe it bears another look... There were some nasty paintings by Miles Shipley as well canvasses showing maiming, killing and slaughter... could they be a blueprint for some cult activity? something like the ten commandments in pictorial form?. I'm becoming paranoid. must sort this through. but maybe speaking to him is also an option, he seems 'warped'.

Got to see about being properly equipped. Get some stuff from the depot... sign it out as trial stuff.

Also need to source some of those books Elias was looking for... someone must have copies, god knows the British Library don't, and I spent enough time there!

Cedric Enfield

Have followed group to Oxford,

They appeared to keep quiet and recover from wounds received in the same incident when your nephew died, and received no visitors. They were traced by men of Egyptian description, I have dealt with that, but was unable to gain any further insight. The group remained unaware of my presence.

I followed them to and now Essex, Walton on the Maze where it became less easy to observe and no new information has come to light. I exercised the discretion allowed and made contact with Sir Lancelot, I believe it is not possible to gain further information without engaging directly with this group. I saw no reason to hold back my instructions from Sir Lancelot, he needed to be well aware of the lines of enquiry and the ultimate sanction should information implicating him come to light. He appeared to accept this with relative calm.
Once introduced to the group, it is apparent they are scared. It would appear they truly believe the ramblings from the journal.
Having discussed with Lancelot at some length I am convinced that solving the connection between an unusual manse on an island in the area owned by the London connection will shed some further light on this.

Manse scouted out... access via road is potential problem, access via water difficult but not impossible.

16.10 Landfall
16.12 Strange obelix investigated, bones (human) noted, appear strangely shattered? manacles on obelix oddly eerie.
16.20 Light on in manse, large hall (empty) no obvious movement
16.22 Entry effective (note to self - acquire grease/oil)
17:50 Manse scouted out. No signs of immediate occupation, library noted, historian wants to investigate. all rooms appear functional but not as expected for a comfortable gentleman's retreat. signs of occupation present, perishable foods, clothing in wardrobes etc.
17.52 The fireplace...something moves.

We will definitely be finishing the London arm of the adventure tonight, so you'll need to consider where you will head next. Initially you will be in the Naze in Essex, but depending on how long that takes there is one final lead back in London to follow up.

Wherever you choose we will have to start it next week.

As a reminder, I wont be around the following week (27th Sept) as I'll be on my honeymoon. I will however be back for the final week (4th Oct).

As briefly discussed, we will continue the campaign in the new year, in a rotation to suit all the players

"Journal entry - Mac Marshall

I have decided that the group are not complicit in the death of Enfield. They are actually trying to find those actually responsible. The truth is they are not capable of doing so without help. Their investigations stir up interest and they barely seem to recognise it until it is too late.

Case in point the incident in Derby, and again during the arrangements to leave England for Shanghai. It appears that they fail to take sufficient care to disguise their locations or their interest.

I arrived in Shanghai only 12 hours after the group it was painful to be told within hours that a number of individuals matching their descriptions were throwing money around and asking indiscrete questions all over the city. disappointing and dangerous. case in point the bar on XX street. a desire to commit suicide is normally undertaken alone could they not see the dangers just outside the door? it appears that local crime syndicates are very effective here in the orient and particularly Hong's business is of interest. The papers I took from England point to the Hong enterprise as conveying these strange artefacts. information from the bar owner (obtained despite himself) by Carnaby, yielded that the bodyguard is still alive and may be trying to avenge (or conceal) his employer? either way we have leads. The boat is now a known quantity, as is the shipping warehouse. both leads would appear viable. we only need to avoid getting killed before we can exploit them.

The Frenchman appears to be cracked. his nocturnal difficulties make him almost a liability, whilst the General and his Japaner, are more stoic there approach is direct... the Japaner in particular appears to have contacts here, (and is more restrained!), Carnaby is somewhat out of his depth... if this comes to a head we will need clear direction and a clear plan. what and where next will be important decisions but HOW we deal with it will be critical ...

Garuda will be joining the game when we resume next rotation, this time with a character of his own.

Garuda - Can you please create 2 characters for the game. They must have a connection of some sort to each other. The second character is for 'continuity', just in case the first character dies or goes insane. Please also give the reason your character is in Shanghai, as that is where the current players are located. If you look at the earlier posts in this thread you will see that you can get certain bonuses by providing extra stuff about your character.

I appreciate we are still 2 months away, but you can at least begin thinking about the character you'd like to play
